As we near the end of 2024, seventy people and organizations have contributed their river stories to the LA River X collection, sharing more than 1,800 photos, videos, and artworks. Now, you're invited to create a remix from YOUR unique perspective. 

Here's how it works:

You select 2-5 posts from the LA River X collection. You can find your own, or ask curator Tilly Hinton to create a shortlist of options for you.

You write a mini essay for Instagram about why you chose those posts and what thoughts and reactions they provoke for you. 

LA River X pays you a small honorarium ($100) to say thanks.

Your perspectives are added to the LA River X collection, and are archived in the Western Water Archives at The Claremont College Library.

You've confirmed your involvement...what next?

1. Search and/or meander around the LA River X collection in the Western Water Archives to find your prompts. Make a list of the links to your selections.

2. Write your mini-essay for Instagram.  Your length limit is ~450 words, which will be published as an Instagram caption and first comment.

3. Provide a bio statement and a headshot photo.

4. If you have writers' block and would rather talk, we could do an Instagram live instead. Reach out!
